Completing and approving chores
When your kids finish a chore, they can mark it complete. As a parent, you'll get a notification to review and approve it. Once approved, they earn their reward points and the job moves to the "done" pile.
How kids mark a chore complete
- Open their chores list
- Find the chore they've finished
- Tap "Mark complete" or the checkmark button
- Add a photo if you'd like (helps show you what they did!)
- Submit for approval
How parents approve chores
- Go to your Chores section
- Look for "Awaiting approval" or "Pending" chores
- Tap the chore to view it and the photo (if uploaded)
- Check the work meets your standards
- Tap "Approve" (they get their points) or "Needs work" if something's not right
What happens after approval?
Once you approve a chore, the child gets their reward points instantly (if you're using points). The chore moves to their completed list, and they can see their progress. If it's a recurring chore, the next instance automatically creates for the next scheduled date.
Handling incomplete or substandard work
If the chore isn't done properly, tap "Needs work" and add a comment explaining what needs fixing. They'll get the notification and can redo it. You can approve on the second attempt, or keep sending it back until it's right. No points awarded until you approve!
Pro tip: Give honest feedback. Even if it's not perfect, a chore done with effort deserves recognition. You can always say "Good effort! Just needs a quick wipe down of the bench."
