Making chores a team effort
Assigning chores is a great way to give kids responsibility and help them understand that everyone pitches in. In My Family Hub, you can assign tasks based on age, ability, and what needs doing around the house.
Creating and assigning a chore
- Go to the Chores section
- Tap "Create chore" or the "+" button
- Give your chore a name (e.g., "Tidy the lounge room", "Load the dishwasher")
- Add a description if needed (e.g., "Fold cushions and put them on the couch")
- Assign it to one or more family members
- Set a due date (today, tomorrow, or a specific date)
- Choose if it's a one-off or recurring task
- Set reward points if you're using the rewards system
- Save the chore
Chore options to customize
Priority level – Mark it as high, medium, or low priority so kids know what needs attention.
Difficulty rating – Rate the chore based on how hard it is. Harder chores can earn more points.
Notes – Add instructions like "Please use the vacuum, not the broom" or "Check that everything's unplugged."
Attachments – Add a photo or checklist if it helps (good for visual learners).
Age-appropriate chores
Tailor chores to ability levels. Younger kids might do simpler tasks like setting the table, while older kids can handle laundry or yard work. The idea is to stretch them a bit but keep things fair and achievable.
Remember: the goal is learning responsibility, not perfection. A quick check and a smile goes a long way!
