Types of notifications explained

Understand what each notification means

Stay informed about what matters

My Family Hub sends notifications for different types of activity. Understanding what each one means helps you decide which ones you want to be alerted about and which you can check later on your own time.

Chore notifications

Chore assigned – A new chore has been assigned to someone (usually parents see when kids get tasks)

Chore due – A reminder that a chore is due soon (usually 24 hours before)

Chore overdue – A chore hasn't been completed by its due date

Chore completed – Someone marked a chore complete and it's awaiting approval

Chore approved – A parent has approved a chore and points have been awarded

Event notifications

Event reminder – A reminder for an upcoming family event (timing depends on what you set)

Event updated – An event's details have changed (time, location, attendees)

Event cancelled – An event has been cancelled

Reward notifications

Points earned – Family member earned points for completing a chore

Badge earned – Someone reached a milestone and earned a badge

Reward redeemed – Someone used their points to claim a reward

Points milestone – Someone reached a significant points total (e.g., 1000 points)

Family notifications

Member joined – A new family member accepted an invite to your hub

Member left – Someone left your family hub

Settings changed – An important family setting has been updated

Message received – Someone sent a message or comment in the app

Customizing by notification type

Most families disable notifications for "Chore completed" (parents approve them anyway) but keep "Chore overdue" turned on. You might turn on "Points earned" to celebrate wins but turn off "Event updated" if changes happen often. Experiment to find what works for your family!
