Adding meals to your plan

Adding meals to your weekly plan is super easy. You can add recipes you've saved, popular meals from our database, or create new meals from scratch. It's flexible enough to handle whatever your family eats!

Step-by-step: adding a meal

  1. Go to your Meal Planner and select the week you're planning
  2. Click on a day and the meal type (Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner)
  3. Search for a meal by name (e.g., "spaghetti bolognese")
  4. Select the meal from your suggestions
  5. If it's your own recipe, the ingredients auto-populate for your shopping list
  6. Click "Add" and move to the next meal

Meal options

Recipes you've saved – Use your own family favourites that are stored in the app.

Popular meals – Browse common meals from our database with ingredient suggestions.

Quick meals – Pre-set meals for busy nights when you need something fast.

Dietary options – Filter by vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, etc.

Customizing meals

Have dietary requirements or allergies? When adding a meal, you can note who should eat it (the whole family or specific people) and any modifications needed. For example, "pasta with no mushrooms for James" or "double beans for Emma (vegetarian)".

Changing or removing meals

Change your mind about dinner? Tap the meal to edit it or replace it with something else. You can swap meals around between days too—drag and drop if your app supports it, or edit each day individually.

Pro tip: Build a library of 10-15 favourite meals so you can easily mix and match. Repetition's fine—your family won't mind having spaghetti twice a month!
